True North Seedbank Review – Canadian Seed Bank with distribution centers in Canada and also the United Kingdom.
True North seed bank is a distributor of high quality medical and non medical marijuana seeds based in Canada, with distribution centers in Canada and in the United Kingdom.
They don’t breed any of their own seeds, but they do cooperate with many of the best seed breeders to distribute their seeds worldwide through the True North shop, though of course buyers are expected to be well-aware of their local law and regulations. Because of the current legislation in Canada, True North seed bank officially sells only medical marijuana seeds, though you should be able to find almost any strain you like there.
You can order their seeds online in their shop, by phone, or even by using their downloadable order form which you can print, fill out, and mail in to them. True North Seed Bank is a legitimate business that cares about its customers and will deliver on its promises most of the time.
It is an adequate and trustworthy cannabis seed bank, but there are a few factors that hold it back from the top of the tables. This full review providers customers with everything they need to know about this Seed Bank, including their reputation, customer service, strain collection, promotions and more so you can make an informed purchase.
True North Seedbank Review
COMPANY HISTORY AND REPUTATION
As of 2018, True North Seed Bank is a relative newcomer in the industry. Maybe they think their customers wouldn’t be interested in their development history, thus they don’t have much information available to the general public about their history or how they came to be what they are today.
Normally, if a company take pride in itself, there should be a little space on the website dedicating to their story, mission or core value. Strange to not see that from True North, but after all it’s just bonus information, it shouldn’t effect the product quality or the quality of their service.
True North Seed Bank is a not a well-known name in the industry as of 2018. It’s a smaller seed bank that is still trying to get on its feet and find its niche. It doesn’t really have a reputation one way or another, as most people wouldn’t recognize the name when you ask them about it. Usually this would be a red flag, but we can assure you that True North, though not our top recommendation, is not a scam.
The company does everything in their ability to ensure that the strains they offer are the highest quality, ship wherever their customers are, offer a good value, and make sure that their customers are content. There is the occasional coincidence or bad reviews, which happens to every business, but not enough to write off True North completely.
As of 2018, they are a perfectly adequate seed bank option, and who knows- they may start to create their legacy in the coming years and earn themselves a great reputation. After all, they have been running a successful business with multiple branches for several years now, so they must be doing something right!
SEED SELECTION AND QUALITY
Although True North does not develop any of their own seed strains, we estimate that they offer strains from at least half of all the major brands of seed breeders. They sell an incredible variety of strains from more than 60 top quality breeders. Some of their more notable brands include Royal Queen Seeds, Barney’s Farm, Moxie Seeds, DNA Genetics, Delicious Seeds, Sensi Seeds, Nirvana Seeds, Serious Seeds, Dinafem, Dutch Passion, Green House Seed Company, G13 Labs, Paradise Seeds, and CBD Crew, to name just a few.
There are a variety of seeds types available, including regular, feminized, autoflowering, auto regular, and auto feminized. They offer seeds designed for indoor growth, seeds that do best outdoors, seeds for growth in greenhouses, high yield seeds, quick flowering seeds, and seeds that grow to different heights. Of course they have Indicas, Sativas, and hybrids. A seller like True North is a good option if there is a certain strain that you really want, but it isn’t available online or the breeder doesn’t ship to your country. It may end up costing you a little bit more in the long run, but at least you’ll be able to get your hands on the particular marijuana strains that you wanted.
Because they are not breeders themselves, their staff has plenty of free time to research the best new emerging strains from the highest quality breeders and negotiate the best prices so that their customers are always getting quality products at a reasonable price point. Of course, seeds that are distributed by a third-party (such as a reseller) are always bound to be slightly more expensive and slightly less fresh than seeds that are bought directly from the original breeders.
Just the simple act of adding in that middleman takes the price up and the freshness down, since they have to ship the seeds to their location first and then ship them out to you, all while still making a bit of profit to keep it worth their while. It’s annoying, but if you can’t buy directly from your favorite breeder because they don’t ship to your area, don’t accept your preferred method of payment, or for other reasons, it’s just a necessary evil.
Customer service at True North is pretty decent. The customer service representatives are easy to reach, professional, responsive and genuinely want to help solve your problem. Of course, this is not always possible, and miscommunications do happen from time to time. On the positive side, they are available by phone 7 days a week from 10 AM to 7 PM EST, or you may chat with them through email. In addition, wait times are usually not very long, and you won’t have to worry about being placed on hold for hours and hours.
All accounts seem to show that True North’s customer service department is friendly and helpful in answering any questions you have and attempting to solve any problems you may run into with your order. All in all, working with True North customer service department is much less annoying than trying to call your cable company, but still not as pleasant as some of other seed banks’ we’ve reviewed with top-notch customer service. It’s a pretty much average experience.
True North’s website is very user-friendly and has an attractive design. The website is easy to access and navigate. Its products are organized in easy-to-follow ways, and its search function is among the the most efficient we’ve seen on any online seed bank shop so far. It allows you to search for best selling strains, top rated strains, or strains from certain breeders. It also allows you to narrow your search by flowering time, effect, plant height, grow location, flavor, yield, THC content, and many other factors.
These tools make it easy to find exactly what you are searching for, or find something that fits your demands perfectly that you may have never even heard of!
They also offer a loyalty program that allows customers to save loyalty points and earn discounts on subsequent orders, which can save a significant amount of bucks for those who shop there often.
PRICE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS
True North Seed Bank regularly has active sales and promotions available for its customers. They often have certain strains on sale at a discounted price, or special promotions for seeds from certain breeders. They have a special section on the website devoted to all the promotions that are currently being run, where customers can enter to win free seeds, apply discount codes to their orders, or even enter contests and sweepstakes run by other breeders. These promotions really help customers get the most value out of their purchases and also adds an extra element of excitement to buying your seeds.
The payment methods that they do accept are as follows:• Credit – Must be Visa or Mastercard approved for international use. This also includes reloadable cards or gift cards.
• International Money Order – Only accepted from customers in Canada or the United States
• E-mail Transfers – Only accepted from customers within Canada
• Cash, Bank Transfer, Western Union or MoneyGram.
• Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Litecoin and Potcoin. They also have discount for using certain preferred payment methods. If you pay with money order, cash, Bitcoin, e-transfer, or bank/money transfer, you will not only save yourself the 7.5% credit card processing fee, but an additional 10% on top of that.
There’s also a chance to get your order completely free of charge if your name is drawn in their monthly raffle. The winner of that drawing has their order amount refunded to them in the form of a coupon code that can be redeemed at True North Seed Bank. The payment method discount is not compatible with any other discount code, though, so you’ll have to weigh your options and choose wisely.
SHIPPING AND RETURNS
True North offers stealth worldwide shipping to every single country and employs a variety of stealth shipping techniques to ensure that your order gets to you safely. The seed bank offers multiple options for safe shipping and delivery of your goods, a feature that is becoming increasingly important in 2018. Orders may be shipped either from their headquarters in Canada or their distribution center in the UK, depending on the package destination. Free delivery is available for orders within the US or Canada that total above CA$525.
Their standard procedure is to ship you the seeds you’ve ordered in the box as packaged by the breeder the seeds came from, unless requested otherwise.
Of course, no markings of the company’s name or the package’s contents will appear on the outside of the box. All orders come with tracking information so you can see where your order is at every stage of the process. You can opt for “EXTRA SAFE” shipping by adding a merchandise item like a T shirt or wallet to your order at checkout. True North recommends choosing the Extra Safe shipping option for all customers in North America and Australia for an increased peace of mind.
If you want a little extra insurance, Guaranteed Delivery Insurance can be purchased for an extra cost of 15 CAD. With this service, True North will resend your order at no charge as many times as it takes to make it to you.
Returns are an option within 7 days of receiving your order if you send the items back in new condition, in their original packaging. Please contact customer service to begin the return process. Return postage is the buyer’s responsibility except in the case that the items arrived damaged. Refunds or exchanges are available for returned merchandise.
True North is a good and reliable seed bank that fills a specific niche for buyers in hard-to ship to areas. It does a lot of things right, such as offering great customer service, a user friendly online shopping experience, and tons of great quality strains.
However, it cannot compete with seller like Crop King Seeds that offer worldwide shipping, accept PayPal payments, AND breed their own seeds.
Many people buy from them and have no trouble whatsoever. It’s a good choice for a reseller, but there are also better options available.
