Lagunitas Brewing Co. Gets Into the Infused Beverage Game With “Hi-Fi Hops”

Posted on

Lagunitas Brewing Co. has a longstanding relationship with cannabis. “It takes a lot of good weed to make great beer,” their website quotes founder Tony Magee as saying. The company’s history is rife with 420 references and open endorsements of pot. They were even shut down in 2005, after one of their hoppin’ open houses, held at 4:20 pm, was busted by California’s Alcoholic Beverage Control department.

Now, however, they’re pursuing a more formal relationship with pot, with the recent announcement of a line of infused, hoppy sparkling waters called “Hi-Fi Hops.” All produced legally, with the aid of licensed California producer Absolute Xtracts, of course. It will help supply the growing demand among cannabis consumers for drinkables.

The waters contain no alcohol, just hoppy flavor. They’re also calorie and carb free, which means your sober health nut friends might finally have something fun to drink when you all go out for happy hour. If they’re true health nuts, they can go for the silver can, a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC. If they’re tryna get lit, as the kids say, the purple can boasts 10mg of THC, just enough to make you feel buzzy while keeping you social.

“This IPA-inspired sparkling beverage is made using everything Lagunitas knows about hops — but with zero alcohol, zero calories, and zero carbs,” they say. And the cannabinoids in it come from “the finest, sun-grown cannabis.” Forgive the pun, but it sounds pretty dope. It’s like they took all the things millennials love—weed, craft beer, and La Croix—and combined them in a can. The weed internet definitely agrees:

The snazzy new sparkling beverage will only be released in California for now. Our friend Zach, who tweeted his adoration from Philadelphia, will just have to wait.
