All of us know or at least most of us do know that cooking oil can be used to make brownies, cookies and even peanut butter bars but cooking oil infused with Marijuana is increasingly being used to make these edibles and it’s believed that the weed-infused edibles taste just as good or even better.
- An oven safe bowl with a lid
- A double boiler
- A strainer
- Baking pan (8×8 or 9×9)
- Marijuana flower (6 grams)
- Vegetable/canola/corn oil (1/2 cup)
- For Chocolate Peanut butter bars
- Marijuana infused oil (½ a cup)
- Peanut butter (1/3 cup)
- Egg (one)
- Brown sugar (1 cup)
- Vanilla extract (1tsp)
- All purpose flour (1 cup)
- Semi sweet choc chip (1cup)
First you need to activate the Marijuana and this can be done by keeping it an oven that has been pre -heated to 250 degrees. Grind or chop the Marijuana to a coarse consistency- don’t reduce it to a powder. Use a grinder, there are many online headshops that have a wide variety. Transfer this into an oven safe bowl, distribute it evenly and cover it with a lid. Place this in the oven and time it for fifteen minutes. Ensure that you remove this from the oven exactly after the prescribed time. The THC is now activated and needs to be infused with oil.
Set up the double boiler with as much water as possible. Place the bowl over the boiler and add the vegetable boil Mix this gently with a spoon. Cover this with a lid and set a timer for half an hour. Check after every 10 minutes –the oil gets darker and darker and the marijuana is heavier and settles at the bottom of the bowl. At the end of specified time, the marijuana looks saturated and heavy and the oil is dark in color.
Now filter the oil using the mesh strainer and press the marijuana with the back of a spoon to press out all the oil from the flowers. Using a cheesecloth all the oil can be squeezed out and this oil can be used for a salad dressing or baking.
Now that the basic oil is ready for use, you can go ahead and make the chocolate peanut butter bars.
First pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Oil he baking pan and keep aside. In a mixing bowl, add the marijuana-infused oil, an egg, peanut butter, brown sugar, a little vanilla extract and blend the whole thing with a hand mixer until it is nice and smooth like candy. Add the flour and blend it into the above mixture until it is fully incorporated into it. Add chocolate chips and distribute it so that it is evenly spread out.
Pour this dough into the pre- greased pan and pat it so that it is evenly spread. If you want—you can decorate this mixture a little more by spreading some chocolate chips over the top. Put this into the oven and set the timer for 20-25 minutes. Check whether it’s done by using the fork. If it comes out clean, take the bowl out from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool.
After 30 minutes, cut the mixture into bars (depending on how thick you want them) and take them with a cup of coffee or milk.
A word of caution though– You can use the Marijuana infused cooking oil for many cold things like a salad dressing or even baking, but never for deep frying as high temperatures degrade the THC—an important element of cannabutter or canna oil.
